Alabama quarterbacks have not done well in the NFL as of late.
In fact, the last time a Tide play caller won a game in the league was when Jeff Rutledge got a victory for the Giants almost three decades ago.
But tonight, the curse was broken.
In his first career start, Bengals QB AJ McCarron also got his first NFL win. McCarron was 15 of 21 for 192 yards and 1 TD in a 24-14 victory over the 49ers.
Earlier this week, McCarron told reporters about his personal leadership style.
“I just feel like I always play the game with passion,” McCarron said. “I try to get everybody else to show a side of them they might not want to show or might not show all the time. Show a little excitement, do a little crazy dance, do something.”
It looks like his leadership skills paid off tonight in San Francisco, and he’ll get to test them again next week in Denver.
