Alabama appears to have found its stride. After falling to Ole Miss in September, the Crimson Tide has regrouped, relying on a heavy dose of Derrick Henry complemented by a stingy defense.
This week, Alabama plays host to Tennessee. Let’s take a look at what other media outlets are saying about the game:
1. Alabama fans and writers are over the long-standing tradition of “Hate Tennessee Week.” The Crimson Tide is getting hot at the right time, and some clearly feel it takes too much energy to devote an entire week to bashing a rival with a .500 record.
2. While the Vols’ have been up and down behind QB Joshua Dobbs, the Crimson Tide has been virtually unstoppable over the last few weeks. Campus Insiders thinks this trend will continue despite a valiant effort from Tennessee on Saturday.
3. Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart has coached his unit into a group of ballhawks. The Crimson Tide leads the SEC with 16 turnovers and USA Today believes this could cause problems for the young Vols offense
4. Joshua Dobbs’ first two games were against Alabama. ESPN college football writer Edward Aschoff thinks this familiarity could aid the Vols QB as he competes in a harsh Tuscaloosa environment on Saturday.
5. During the bye week, Tennessee devoted countless hours trying to fix its struggling defense. The Chattanooga Times Free Press thinks Derrick Henry and company will present a great test to see just how far John Jancek’s group has come.
