Mississippi State has put together a solid season but is coming off a crushing loss to Alabama last week. Arkansas started slow, but has been hot as of late. The Razorbacks have won their last four games, three of those were against SEC opponents.

Let’s take a look at what the media is saying about Saturday’s matchup between Mississippi State and Arkansas.

1. Mississippi State can’t afford to give up the big play against Arkansas. USA Today previews the Bulldogs upcoming game with a focus on their defense, which gave up four plays of more than 60 yards against Alabama last week. Brandon Allen has been on fire recently, so Mississippi State will need to bring its best effort.

2. It seems like everyone was doubting the Arkansas offense, but not anymore. The Arkansas Democrat Gazette recaps the beginning of the year when the Razorbacks lost Jonathan Williams for the season. The Razorbacks offense has gone from suspect to explosive, and no one in Fayetteville is complaining.

3. Arkansas has the chance for a decent bowl game. In ESPN’s recent Bowl predictions, it pegs the Razorbacks in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl. A victory over Mississippi State this weekend will help the Razorbacks cause.

4. The Bulldogs gave up nine sacks last week against Alabama. The Clarion- Ledger says that Dan Mullen has put an emphasis on practice this week as his squad prepares to face an Arkansas defense that recorded five sacks against LSU.

5. The Razorbacks will win Saturday, and beat Missouri the following week. Or at least that’s what The Arkansas Traveler believes. This week should be a close game, so it’s not quite time to jump to such extreme conclusions.
