Mel Kiper Jr. released a new NFL mock draft this week and he had a surprising inclusion in his top-10: Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.

For much of the pre-draft process, Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders have been viewed as the top quarterbacks in this class. And while that’s still the case, Dart’s stock has grown from a Day 2 prospect to possibly a top-10 pick in the last few weeks.

In his latest mock, Kiper projected Dart to be picked No. 9 overall by the New Orleans Saints. During an appearance on ‘Get Up’ Tuesday morning, Kiper explained the projection.

“Jaxson Dart is locked into the Saints at 9 for me right now,” Kiper said. “I think when you look at Jaxson Dart, the improvement, completion percentage up every year.”

Kiper mentioned impressive numbers for Dart with regards to his interceptions totals as well as the work he’s done on the ground over his college career. Dart rushed for over 1,500 yards and scored 14 rushing touchdowns during his time at Ole Miss and USC.

Kiper also compared Dart’s rise to Bo Nix, who ended up being a first-round pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2024 NFL Draft.

If you think Kiper might be on to something here, BetMGM is currently offering an interesting NFL Draft prop. As of publication, the Saints are +2000 to draft a quarterback with their first pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The 2025 NFL Draft will begin on April 24 in Green Bay.
