Ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, the Kansas City Chiefs have traded for former South Carolina Gamecock and current Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Melvin Ingram, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.
Russini broke the news on Twitter on Tuesday morning:

Ingram, 32, had spent his first 9 seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers before joining the Steelers this offseason. On the year, he has a single start with 9 tackles and 1 sack.
For the 4-4 Chiefs, it’s a move to bolster depth on an oft-tortured defensive unit. Kansas City ranks 23rd in pressures and 31st in sacks produced.
While in Columbia, Ingram produced 31.5 TFLs and 21.5 sacks in 50 career games for the Gamecocks. He was the 18th overall selection by the Chargers in the 2012 NFL Draft. In 113 games over 9 seasons with the Chargers, Ingram amassed 360 tackles and 70 TFLs.
In addition to play, the Chiefs have had to endure injuries to key players along the front of its defense this season—namely Frank Clark and Chris Jones. Ingram should get a chance to debut on Sunday in front of the home crowd when Kansas City plays host to the Green Bay Packers (7-1) at 4:25 p.m. ET.
