Micah Handlogten will be active for the first time this season as Florida takes on South Carolina on Saturday.
Handlogten announced that news on Friday while meeting with reporters in Gainesville. This will be his first game since he suffered a gruesome leg injury in last season’s SEC Tournament championship game. He suffered a leg fracture during the game and had to be carted off the floor.

Handlogten’s return is somewhat unexpected given the severity of his injury and the limited time left in the 2024-25 season. He was previously cleared to return to play and at one point planned to suit up against Georgia last month per ESPN, but ended up reversing course.
Now, it seems Handlogten has changed his mind again and will play for the Gators as they pursue a national title.
“The sky is the limit,” Handlogten told reporters on Friday. “I literally think we can win the national championship.”
The 7-footer started 32 games last season for Florida in his first season with the program. He was most effective as a rebounder as he averaged 5.6 rebounds and 6.9 boards in under 19 minutes per game. It’s unclear how big his role will be with a talented Florida team for the rest of the 2025 season.
Florida will play South Carolina at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
