Mike Gundy had a unique story to share at his Week 8 press conference. The Oklahoma State coach met with media members via Zoom instead of in-person because he was injured by his cattle.
Gundy revealed he’s dealing with a “bloody eye” after being headbutted. Brett McMurphy shared audio from Gundy’s Monday press conference via social media. As one would expect from Gundy, the Cowboy coach used some humor when discussing his situation.
“I had a little run-in with my cattle over the weekend – I guess they’ve been watching us play – and got headbutted,” Gundy shared. “I’ve got a bad eye that I didn’t think would be particularly enjoyable for people (to see) when they’re looking at my pretty face in a live interview.
“But, more importantly, it’s full of blood. I get dizzy. So, it’s not easy to be upright and be in a normal function. Other than that, I’m doing great.”
Gundy’s crack about the way the Cowboys have been playing is unfortunately fitting. Oklahoma State started the year 3-0 and reached as high as No. 13 in the AP Top 25. OSU is now 3-3 on a 3-game losing skid, dropping all 3 of its Big 12 games against Utah (22-19), Kansas State (42-20) and West Virginia (38-14).
The Pokes play next on Friday at No. 13 BYU. The Cougars improved to 6-0 on Saturday with a 41-19 win over Arizona.
