Mike White announces Georgia PG ‘taking some personal time’ away from court

Mike White announced Tuesday evening that Georgia point guard Terry Roberts will be “taking some personal time” away from the program entering the regular season. Roberts is not expected to play in the Bulldogs’ season opener against Western Carolina on Nov. 7.

“Terry’s taking some personal time, and we support him, love him, respect him,” White told reporters, via 247Sports, following the Bulldogs’ 66-52 victory over Georgia College. “That’s all I’m going to say on it.”

Roberts, a 6-foot-3 guard from Fort Myers, Fla., joined the program this offseason as a transfer from Bradley University. As a junior, Roberts averaged 14.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He also shot 34.5% from 3-point range, earning himself first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors.

Prior to his arrival with the Braves, Roberts played 2 seasons at Florida SouthWestern State, where he finished as the Buccaneers’ all-time leader in steals (122). White declined to comment further on the longevity of Roberts’ status with the program.

White is entering his 1st season as Georgia’s head coach following a 7-year run at SEC East rival Florida. Under his watch, the Gators went 142–88 overall, and 72–52 in conference play. Last season, Florida missed the NCAA tournament for the 1st time since 2016.
