Missed penalty? Notre Dame WR flinches ahead of costly flag on Georgia

Notre Dame scored a convincing victory over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday night in New Orleans, advancing to the Orange Bowl with a 23-10 win over a Bulldogs’ squad that was playing without starting QB Carson Beck.
Kirby Smart and company had no answer for the Fighting Irish defense, as QB Gunner Stockton was under siege all night long.
But late in the 4th quarter, with Notre Dame facing 4th-and-short, an Irish receiver appeared to false start before a flag on Georgia for being offsides at the snap:
Is that a missed call from the official? It certainly appears so. Would it have had a major impact on the outcome of the game? Based on Georgia’s offensive struggles, probably not. But you never want to see a team denied an opportunity to win on a missed call like that.
Case in point: many fans were upset about a non-call on a potential targeting during a Texas 2OT victory over Arizona State on Wednesday.
Notre Dame advances to the Orange Bowl to face Penn State. The Nittany Lions, as of now, will have a 2-day rest advantage over Notre Dame after Thursday’s Sugar Bowl was postponed a day due to a suspected terror attack in New Orleans.
