The Mississippi State Bulldogs and cowbells go together like sweet tea and lemonade. Despite this, the Bulldogs somehow don’t hold the world record for “most people ringing cowbells simultaneously.” But they’re looking to change that.
Late Thursday evening, Mississippi State announced it would be attempting to set the new world record for “most people ringing cowbells simultaneously” at its game against the Missouri Tigers on Sept. 26. The school’s athletic account shared the news on social media.
With the Bulldogs and cowbells going hand in hand, people wondered who currently holds this record. One Twitter/X user provided unofficial confirmation of the American Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals. The AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators seemingly confirmed their current status later in the evening.
Assuming the 6,678 figure is the most up-to-date record, Mississippi State is primed to obliterate that mark. The Bulldogs averaged 53,186 people for their home games in 2025 and had 48,771 fans at their season opener vs. Louisiana-Monroe.
A win over South Carolina on the road this weekend would almost assure Mississippi State sells out Davis Wade Stadium next weekend. Before that, though, the Bulldogs battle the Gamecocks at 4:15 p.m. E.T. on Saturday (SEC Network).
