Mississippi State may still be working on its 2022 recruiting class, but it has also now gotten a start on its 2023 class.

On Friday, the Bulldogs landed a commitment from running back Ty Jones, who is a 4-star recruit per the 247Sports rankings. Jones currently attends Bay Springs (Miss.) High School, so he’ll be staying in state for his college career.

Jones became the 1st player from the 2023 recruiting cycle to commit to the Bulldogs.

Per the 247Sports rankings, Jones is the No. 204 player in the 2023 class, as well as the No. 21 athlete and the No. 2 recruit from Mississippi.

Jones chose Mississippi State over offers from Arkansas State, Indiana, Ole Miss and Southern Miss.
