Mississippi State on Thursday added to its 2024 recruiting class by landing a commitment from the JUCO ranks. Branden Jennings, a linebacker from Hinds CC in Mississippi, announced on his X account his pledge to play for the Bulldogs.
In 7 games thus far with Hinds this season, Jennings has totaled 47 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, and 1.0 sacks. He has also been credited with a fumble recovery.
It’s a return to the FBS ranks for Jennings, a Jacksonville, Fla. native and former 4-star recruit who initially signed with Maryland from the class of 2021. He was considered the No. 12 linebacker in the country at the time of his signing. In his lone season with the Terrapins, he played in 8 games — including 3 starts — posting 23 tackles, 1.0 TFLs, and a forced fumble.
He would later enter the transfer portal and eventually signed with Kansas State, but re-entered the portal in April 2022 just months after arriving on campus. A month later, he signed with UCF.
In April, Jennings entered the portal for a 3rd time and eventually landed at Hinds. It appears he’s set to continue his college career in the SEC next season.
