Mississippi State continues to lead the way in SEC recruiting this season as the Bulldogs landed commit number 15 Monday from defensive back Landon Guidry – which currently leads all SEC teams in terms of quantity of commits for 2017.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Guidry is currently rated as a three-star defensive back and the No. 33 prospect from the state of Tennessee according to 247Sports Composite Ratings. Other schools that have offered Guidry a scholarship include Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Memphis, Arkansas State and Toledo.
As a junior, Guidry racked up 80 tackles, 8 tackles-for-loss, 1 interception, 5 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble and 3 fumble recoveries.

Responsible for Tennessee area recruiting, new Mississippi State defensive coordinator (and former Tennessee Titan linebacker) Peter Sirmon looks to have identified a physical player capable of wrecking havoc in his defensive backfield. Judging by his highlight reel, if Guidry can add some weight, don’t be surprised if he ultimately makes the move to linebacker in Starkville.
