Mississippi State had a 2024 season to forget. The team ended with a 2-10 record, with their lone wins coming against Eastern Kentucky and UMass. Notable losses include a double-digit home loss to Toledo and a 33-point loss to Arkansas.
Understandably. the Bulldogs have been busy in the transfer portal so far looking to overhaul the roster. On Saturday, the team added former Texas Longhorn defensive lineman Jaray Bledsoe.
Bledsoe collected just 2 tackles in 2024, with both coming in a September against UTSA. The former 4-star recruit failed to cement his place in the Texas defensive line rotation and collected just 7 tackles over parts of 3 seasons in Austin.
Before college, Bledsoe starred for Marlin High School in Marlin, TX. The 247Sports Composite ranking had Bledsoe as the No. 24 DL and the No. 28 player out of Texas. The DL had offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor, and others, before deciding on Texas.
Now, Bledsoe will try his luck with Mississippi State. The Bulldog defense could use the help, as the unit finished No. 127 in total defense in 2024. The unit gave up 35 or more points 6 times, including letting Toledo score 41.
In the portal, Bledsoe becomes the 11th player to commit to the Bulldogs. Six of those commits, including Bledsoe, have been on the defensive side of the ball. The most notable addition for the Bulldogs is former Florida State quarterback Luke Kromenhoek who should immediately compete for the starting gig.
