Mississippi State, SEC West leading conference in games with 500 yards of offense
The SEC West has developed a reputation for terrifying defenses and hard-nosed football.
With the likes of Alabama, LSU and Auburn boasting some stingy defensive units, it wouldn’t be a shock to see offenses struggling to succeed in the West. Actually, the division’s offenses are just a scary as the defenses.

Over the last three seasons, SEC West teams have combined for 80 games with at least 500 yards of total offense. Mississippi State leads the conference and has topped that mark three times this season, even without former star quarterback Dak Prescott.
Notably, the entire western division is ahead of its eastern counterparts. Gone are the days of Urban Meyer’s explosive offenses at Florida and Georgia’s balanced attack.
These trends can often be cyclical, but there’s no question that the caliber of play appears to be higher on both sides of the ball in the SEC West.
