Joe Moorhead probably expects the players on his team to keep their heads up after the 13-6 loss to Florida on Saturday night at Davis Wade Stadium.

The Bulldogs, which now sit at 3-2 on the season and 0-2 in conference play, still have a lot to fight for including at minimum a bowl berth with at least three more wins.

Moorhead also received some leadership from an unexpected source in 2019 commitment and four-star defensive end Nathan Pickering, who issued a call out to every Bulldog commit on Twitter.

Not only a positive message for Moorhead, Mississippi State fans should be pleased to see that note from Pickering as the in-state lineman committed to the program under Dan Mullen. The Gators have started recruiting him once Mullen left the state and Alabama, Auburn and LSU haven’t stopped pursuing him, either.

Pickering may have a case to make about future motivation. Mississippi State is currently ranked the No. 19 class in the country according to 247Sports. As a lineman, he had to be impressed by the Bulldogs defense only allowing 13 points. Instead, it was the offense that struggled and only put up 202 yards of total offense.

While it wasn’t a fun Saturday night on Twitter for most in Starkville, Pickering’s message stood out as a positive moment.
