Mizzou is riding one of its best stretches in program history, and the Tigers are reloading the roster to try and keep things rolling in 2025. On Friday, that meant a portal pickup from one of the top tight ends available.
The player is Gavin Hoffman, a redshirt freshman who began his career at Iowa during the 2024 season. Though Hoffman did not see game action, Mizzou beat the Hawkeyes in the Music City Bowl to end the 2024 season.
Listed at 6-foot-5 and 237 pounds, 247 Sports rated Hoffman among the top tight ends available this offseason.

Coming out of high school, Hoffman was a 4-star prospect and the No. 2 player out of Kansas, per the 247 Sports Composite. Eli Drinkwitz and the Tigers were a part of Hoffman’s initial recruitment, even drawing visits from the TE prior to his commitment to the Hawkeyes.
Even without game experience, Hoffman brings elite size to the position and has a chance to develop into a contributor in Columbia. He also joins an elite transfer portal class for Drinkwitz and his staff.
The addition of Hoffman brings the Tigers to 19 total transfer commitments, a group that ranks 6th in the country per 247 Sports. That group also includes former Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula, a fellow former Big Ten contributor.
