Mizzou OC Josh Heupel expects sophomore WR Johnathon Johnson to have a huge year

As a redshirt freshman in 2016, Mizzou WR Johnathon Johnson burst onto the scene, recording 24 catches for 435 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for another 114 yards. He also returned a punt for a touchdown for the Tigers.
With the 2017 season approaching, second-year offensive coordinator Josh Heupel is expecting big things from the versatile sophomore.
According to STLToday.com, Heupel has liked what he’s seen from Johnson so far this summer and thinks the sophomore is ready for an even bigger role this fall:
“He’s probably our most purposeful, consistent wideout we have inside the room and on the practice field every single day. He’s an extremely mature individual at this point as far as in the football arena. That’s why we expect him to have a huge year.”
The Tigers benefitted from Johnson’s ability to create space in the open field last year, and would be wise to put the ball in his hands more this fall.
If Johnson can take a step forward this season, the Mizzou offense will be even more dangerous.
