Missouri will make the trip to “The Little Apple” this weekend to face off against former Big 12 foe Kansas State. Tigers coach Eli Drinkwitz announced Thursday that several players would remain back in Columbia due to injury.
Mizzou will be without wide receiver Demariyon Houston, wide receiver Chance Luper, defensive lineman Ky Montgomery, and offensive lineman Hyrin White for Saturday’s matchup. Luper, a standout receiver during the 2021 season, is expected to miss 6 to 8 weeks due to an “illness” suffered before the team’s 52-24 season-opening win over Louisiana Tech on Thursday night.
Houston, a junior transfer from Hutchinson Community College, and Montgomery, a freshman from Indianapolis, Ind., both did not play last week against the Bulldogs. White, a 6-foot-7 offensive tackle, was not part of the starting 5 against La. Tech as well.
The Tigers are hoping to stay on the right track against one of the fan-favorite sleepers in the Big 12. For Mizzou to keep its winning ways alive, its best chance to pick up the win would be limiting the carries of do-it-all running back Deuce Vaughn. Last week against the Wildcats’ 34-0 win over South Dakota, the 5-foot-11 runner totaled 128 total yards of offense on 19 plays and scored a 39-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
The Tigers are expecting big things from sophomore quarterback Brady Cook and freshman wide receiver Luther Burden. A native of St. Louis, Cook finished 18-of-27 passing for 201 yards and a touchdown. Burden, one of the highest-rated players to ever commit to the program, finished with 3 catches for 17 yards and scored 2 touchdowns, one of which was out of the wildcat formation on a 1-yard keeper.
#Mizzou football released the injury report for week two against Kansas State.
No one listed as probable, questionable, or doubtful.
