Mizzou thought it was ready to get Saturday’s showdown vs. Georgia rolling in Athens, but there was just one problem. The starting lineup for the Tigers was inaccurate, leading to a rare administrative technical being called on Mizzou.

If that’s strange, it’s because it is. Mark Mitchell was not listed as a starter by the Tigers, but Dennis Gates decided to take the one-shot technical in order to get Mitchell into the starting 5.

“There was an administrative error with marking the starters, and it wasn’t caught in time,” relayed the SEC Network analyst. “Missouri has elected to put Mark Mitchell into the starting lineup, even though he wasn’t listed as such. That will cost the Tigers an administrative technical. So we’ll start with one shot and then tip it up.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen this in a college game. I think I’ve seen this in a high school game when someone has the books wrong,” admitted the SEC Network broadcaster.

Silas Demary Jr. made the one shot for Georgia, giving the Bulldogs a super rare 1-0 lead before the ball was even tipped up at halfcourt. Now that’s something you definitely don’t see every day, just further proof that the SEC has it all this basketball season.
