Multiple SEC title game records set in first half between Alabama and Florida

During the first half of the SEC title game between Alabama and Florida, two conference records have already been set.

One is rather impressive — while the other falls in the “dubious” category.

Alabama has set a conference title game record for the most points (33) in one half:

The scary thing is, QB Jalen Hurts hasn’t played exceptionally well. Through one half, Hurts has gone 8-of-16 for 112 yards and one touchdown. Florida has held him in check when it comes to running the football. Hurts has -13 rushing yards on only three carries.

With only 172 yards of total offense in the first half, it’s been the defense galvanizing the scoring output for the Crimson Tide. Alabama blocked a Florida punt for a touchdown, and also has a pick-six courtesy of Minkah Fitzpatrick.

On the other side of the coin, Florida QB Austin Appleby etched his name into the record books for the wrong reasons:

Appleby has been victimized by three interceptions in the first half. The Purdue transfer has been late on throws, missed open receivers, and generally looks uncomfortable — as many quarterbacks do — going up against the Alabama pass rush.

With one half left to play, Appleby may ultimately end up all alone atop this less-than-desirable list.
