After much speculation, South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp all but confirmed what many had suspected.
Quarterback-turned-wide receiver Lorenzo Nunez will use the 2016 season as a redshirt year. It’s something that both Muschamp and the player equally desire.
Muschamp says redshirting Nunez is the best option for him. "He wants that and we want that as well." #Gamecocks #UofSC

As a true freshman in 2015, the Georgia native was thrust onto the field due to injury concerns and lackluster play. While Nunez showed flashes as both a passer and runner, his skill set appears to be a better fit as a receiver.
This thought was fortified even further with the arrivals of elite freshman QB prospects Jake Bentley and Brandon McIlwain.
Though Nunez doesn’t have a ton of experience as a receiver, he’ll be given plenty of time to make the transition — whilst also learning the intricacies of the position. If anything, he’ll give South Carolina a big, fast, physical athlete on the perimeter.
