Nate Oats was not waiting around when a fan — or fans — threw some debris on the court during a break in the action of the Alabama vs. Auburn game on Saturday.
The marquee No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup has lived up to the hype, though it looked like Bruce Pearl’s Tigers might run away with things. After falling behind early, Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide have clawed all the way back, even tying the game at 68-all in the 2nd half.
It remains to be seen if the Tide can complete the comeback and knock off Auburn, but things got a bit testy during one break when debris was tossed onto the court during a break. As Alabama’s towel crew was quick to get to work, Oats himself was quick to take matters into his own hands.
He grabbed the PA microphone to address the fans and implored the guilty party (or parties) to knock it off:
“Knock this stuff off, we’re trying to win a basketball game right now,” implored Oats.
Fortunately, there wasn’t a lengthy delay in the action with a timeout already taking place on court. A 10-0 run by Alabama should make things interesting down the stretch with Auburn holding a 73-68 lead as the game hits the 6-minute mark in the 2nd half.
