National Championship Game head ref speaks out on newfound social media fame
Monday night’s wild title game between Clemson and Alabama captivated millions of people.
The Tigers were able to exact revenge on the Crimson Tide from last year — as QB Deshaun Watson led his team to a come-from-behind victory.
While the game (rightfully so) garnered much of attention, head referee Mike DeFee also took the nation by storm with his physical prowess.

A social media sensation, DeFee recently gave his thoughts on the newfound fame surrounding his appearance:
“It was really overwhelming. I was really surprised to see the text messages. For most officials, we don’t get involved with social media for a lot of reasons. I’ve had some friends share a lot of the things. The things I’ve seen have been very creative. It has been overwhelmingly positive.”
