It was another big week in college football, on and off the field, and the SEC wasn’t excluded.
No. 1 Alabama pulled out a huge 49-10 win over No. 9 Tennessee to solidify its place in the Playoff. The Vols shifted in the postseason projections, but they are still very much present.
Both LSU and Florida won, as expected, over Southern Mississippi and Mizzou, respectively, but it wasn’t enough for LSU to sweep all three outlets. It was enough to keep the Gators going strong, and despite the loss, Missouri is still hanging around.
Mississippi State fell 28-21 in double overtime to BYU, though we’re not sure that was a surprise. The Bulldogs move to 2-4 and spend another week on the outside, knowing it won’t be their last.
What was a surprise was Vandy’s 1-point upset over Georgia, though it wasn’t enough to boost the Commodores into the postseason projections or to kick the Bulldogs out of them.
And it’s safe to say No. 22 Arkansas’ 34-30 victory over No. 12 Ole Miss was the most exciting SEC matchup of the weekend. Looking at the projections, it’s obvious that these two teams aren’t done fighting for the same spots.
