Navy football gets underway in Week 0 from Ireland with a contest vs. No. 13 Notre Dame.

The equipment squad unveiled the uniforms for the Midshipmen in Saturday’s matchup from Aviva Stadium. The Midshipmen will sport gold helmets with white jerseys and navy pants.

Despite being 21-point underdogs, ESPN’s Rece Davis and Stanford Steve expect Navy will cover the spread.

In last season’s matchup, Notre Dame squeaked by Navy 35-32.

“I think Notre Dame is a ton better than Navy but 21 is too much for me to lay in a game in Europe,” Davis said. Unfamiliar surroundings. Working the kinks out. Week early start…Navy loses the game decisively but stays just inside the number.”

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman believes facing Navy to start the season will be a unique challenge as he enters his second year at the helm.

“It’s a tremendous advantage to play Navy the first game of the year because the preparation that entails getting ready for them is obviously lengthy,” Freeman said via The AP.

Navy-Notre Dame is slated for 2:30 p.m. EST and will be televised on NBC.
