NC State mascot hit in groin by Tennessee kick, adding insult to injury

NC State has a rough Saturday night all around, with the Wolfpack getting crushed by Tennessee in Charlotte to the tune of a 51-10 final score.

It was also a rough night for the NC State mascot, as an unfortunate bounce caught it in a not-great place during Saturday’s game.

As you can see below, a kickoff from Tennessee bounces through the end zone, catching the NC State mascot directly in the groin. After a brief pause, the mascot goes down to the ground, adding insult to injury on a long night for everyone involved with the program:

That’s about how the game went for the Wolfpack. After a 7-0 lead for the Vols through the first quarter, Josh Heupel’s team turned on the jets. Tennessee held a 20-3 halftime lead and didn’t slow down in the second half of the 51-10 victory.

Tennessee looks like a Playoff contender, vying for 1 of the 12 spots in the expanded field. NC State, meanwhile, will search for answers following a lackluster Week 1 showing and a blowout loss in Week 2.

The Vols host an 0-2 Kent State team next weekend in Neyland Stadium. That game could get even uglier than Saturday’s 51-10 final score over the Wolfpack. Kickoff is set for 7:45 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
