NCAA allowing teams to host more official visitors for remainder of 2023 recruiting cycle, per report
According to a memo obtained by ESPN, the NCAA has given its approval for a blanket waiver for FBS and FCS football to “increase the institutional limits on official visits by 14 during the period from April 1, 2022, through March 31, 2023.”
This will increase the amount of visitors allowed during the remainder of the 2023 recruiting cycle from 56 to 70, according to the report.

The reasoning for this last-minute change, according to the NCAA, is that all of the recent rule changes — the 1-time transfer exception, the transfer portal, the blanket waiver of initial counter — has provided schools the need for a “one-time, limited relief.”

According to the report, the NCAA FOC will be gathering more information to consider whether it should recommend a legislative change.
An official visit for a college football recruit only happens when the school covers all of the costs, including for the trip to campus, and provides money for the recruit’s room and meals.
