We know the NCAA Tournament isn’t happening this year, but there was still hope that perhaps the NCAA Selection Committee would release a bracket for hypothetical purposes (and to acknowledge the 68 best teams in the country).

However, according to NCAA VP Dan Gavitt, this Selection Sunday will pass without a bracket being released.

Gavitt issued a statement on Sunday confirming that there would be no bracket:

Some coaches had lobbied for a bracket release, including Auburn’s Bruce Pearl. However, the committee didn’t have conference tournament results to go with, so it would have been weird to see a bracket.

It’s unfortunate for the players and coaches involved, but with COVID-19 spreading across the globe, perhaps it’s for the best.
