The season-opener in Week 0 hardly went the way that Nebraska fans had hoped it would, with the team falling 31-28 to the Northwestern Wildcats in the season-opener.

The Cornhuskers were relatively large favorites in the overseas matchup and blew a double-digit lead that could mostly be attributed to a questionable onside kick decision by head coach Scott Frost, who has since caught most of the heat from the unexpected loss.

While there were some highlights, quarterback Casey Thompson hurt himself some with a pair of interceptions, going 25-of-42 passing for 355 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions.

Needless to say, the Cornhuskers faithful was in dismay at the series of events. And the “surrender Cobra” was out en masse.

The Cornhuskers will hope for a much better outcome and a chance at redemption in their Sept. 3 meeting with North Dakota after Frost himself was asked by a reported in Ireland about the possibility of him stepping down.

Frost is now 5-21 in one-possession games during his time in Lincoln. We’ll see if he can turn that disturbing trend around.
