Netflix announced a new documentary on Monday that will focus on the Michigan sign-stealing scandal that rocked the sport last fall.

The documentary features Connor Stalions, who resigned from his role at Michigan after he allegedly orchestrated an extensive sign-stealing operation while working on staff with the Wolverines. The doc will be part of Netflix’s “UNTOLD” series, which previously covered other college football topics such as Urban Meyer’s Florida program and Johnny Manziel’s run at Texas A&M.

The documentary, titled “Sign Stealer,” is one of 3 new features from Netflix that will air in the coming weeks. Sign Stealer will go live on Aug. 27, just days before Week 1 of the 2024 season.

Sign Stealer will be the first time Stalions has spoken publicly about his alleged involvement in the scandal. Stalions resigned from his job at Michigan back on Nov. 3, 2023.

Despite the significant distraction surrounding the investigation, Michigan went 15-0 and won the national championship in 2023. Head coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended for 3 games late in the year by the Big Ten. Harbaugh has since left the program to be the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

At this point, it’s unclear if anyone currently representing Michigan will have a voice in this upcoming documentary. Per Netflix’s release, this doc is expected to focus on Stalions’ side of the story that “turned him into a viral villain.”

Sign Stealer will be available for Netflix subscribers on Aug. 27. Michigan will open the 2024 season against Fresno State on Aug. 31.
