New Mississippi State coach Joe Moorhead to players: ‘You know your ring size?’

The Mississippi State Bulldogs conducted a short and productive coaching search after Dan Mullen left for Florida on Sunday.

By Tuesday, the Bulldogs had hired Penn State OC Joe Moorhead to take over as the head coach, a move widely praised by fans and media.

Moorhead recently arrived in Starkville, and his first statement to players was a powerful one, as he told them to figure out their ring sizes:

That’s big talk for a program that has been as historically mediocre as Mississippi State, but Mullen brought the Bulldogs to national prominence in his nine years with the program.

Moorhead certainly has his work cut out for him to keep the Bulldogs at that level, but he’s widely regarded as a great offensive mind, so it will be interesting to see how Mississippi State fares in 2018.

Are rings in the team’s future? Only time will tell.
