New SEC on ABC score bug draws mixed reactions from fans, media

ABC debuted a new score bug for its broadcast of Miami vs. Florida on Saturday afternoon.

The network will presumably use this score bug for all of its SEC on ABC broadcasts moving forward, at least in the 3:30 p.m. ET time slot. However, other college football games broadcast on other Disney networks on Saturday utilized the old score bug.

Here’s a look at the new design compared to ESPN’s old college football score bug:

The new version takes up less screen space horizontally, but is a bit wider. It includes all pertinent information, including the score, game clock, play clock, down-and-distance and timeouts remaining.

Next week, ABC will broadcast South Carolina at Kentucky at 3:30 p.m. ET. In Week 3, ABC will broadcast a trio of SEC contests throughout the day: LSU at South Carolina at noon, Texas A&M at Florida at 3:30 p.m. and Georgia at Kentucky in prime time.
