Next man up: Kevin Sumlin reportedly not interested in Tennessee

Kevin Sumlin is not interested in the Tennessee job, according to a tweet from Doug Gottlieb.

The Volunteers were reportedly pursuing the former Texas A&M coach on Thursday to potentially bring him to Knoxville as the next head coach at UT.

Tennessee has been turned down by three coaches — Mike Gundy, Jeff Brohm and Dave Doeren — in the past three days.

The Vols’ fan base revolted on Sunday when UT was reportedly set to hire Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano. Since then, Knoxville has been chaotic.

Many Tennessee fans want Lane Kiffin to return, while others are pushing for USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin — who won a national championship as the Vols’ quarterback in 1998.

The majority of fans would likely be unified with Sumlin as the coach, but apparently that’s not going to happen.
