When the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft ended on Thursday night, the SEC and Big Ten had supplied 26 of the 32 players selected. Four programs across those 2 leagues all had at least 3 players picked in the opening round. Ohio State led all programs with 4 first-round picks.

It was a sign of the times in college football. The two best leagues in the sport are such because of the talent that flocks to them. That didn’t change on Day 2 of the draft.

In the second round, 21 of the 32 players selected came from either the SEC or the Big Ten. At the conclusion of the second round, Ohio State still held the edge for the most draft picks with 7. Texas was next with 5 to lead all SEC teams. Michigan, Georgia, and Ole Miss each had 4 players picked through the first 2 rounds.

In the third round, 19 players from the SEC and Big Ten were selected.

At the end of Day 2 of the draft, the SEC led all leagues with 37 players selected. The Big Ten was next with 29. Those 2 leagues combined to produce 64.7% of the players selected in the opening 3 rounds.
