The run on SEC receivers is underway during the third day of the NFL draft as Georgia’s Malcolm Mitchell, Auburn’s Ricardo Louis and South Carolina’s Pharoh Cooper all go within six selections of each other Saturday.
New England used the No. 112 pick to take Mitchell, Cleveland used the No. 114 pick to take Louis and Los Angeles used the No. 117 pick on Cooper.
Despite Georgia’s struggles under center last season, Mitchell was still able to register 58 catches, 865 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Under the guidance of head coach Bill Belichick, quarterback Tom Brady and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Mitchell will have a chance to finally maximize his tremendous potential at the NFL level.

Perhaps no NFL team needs more help at receiver than the Browns, where Louis’ speed should help him see the field early under new head coach Hue Jackson and starting quarterback Robert Griffin III.

After serving as the primary weapon for the Gamecocks the past two seasons, Cooper could develop into the favorite target of the draft’s top overall pick quarterback Jared Goff. Don’t be surprised if Cooper sees significant playing time in the slot for the receiver-needy Rams during his rookie campaign.
