The 2025 NFL Draft begins this week in Green Bay, with Round 1 kicking off on Thursday night at Lambeau Field.
As usual, SEC football players are expected to dominate the first round, with some mock drafts having up to half of the first 32 selections coming from the deepest conference in college football.
Most of the names expected to go in Round 1 are well-known to fans by this point, but there is always the potential for a surprise or 2. NFL.com insider Tom Pelissero put together a list of 5 potential Round 1 surprises.
Included on that list is Georgia OL Jared Wilson, who lined up mostly at center this past season for the Bulldogs. Here’s what Pelissero had to say about Wilson:
While some teams project versatile North Dakota State OL Grey Zabel to center, the top prospect who actually played the position in college is probably Wilson. According to Pro Football Focus, the Georgia product allowed zero sacks in 511 pass-block snaps last season, his first as a starter.
Like most UGA centers, Wilson (6-3, 310) is quicker than he is strong, but he tested off the charts at the combine. Many teams expect he’ll go on Day 2, but it won’t be a total shock if he’s off the board even sooner.
All it takes is 1 team to become enamored for Wilson for him to sneak into the first round. We’ll see what happens on Thursday night in Green Bay!
