Nick Saban built Alabama into a College GameDay staple. This fall, Saban will be on the traveling pregame show analyzing college football’s biggest games of the week.
During a Monday media appearance, Saban was asked if he can be expected to pick Alabama when GameDay comes to Tuscaloosa. Saban is retired, but he hasn’t lost his touch for coach speak.
“I try to steer away from picking people. I think I’m gonna have to do that now,” Saban answered. “I don’t know that you always have to pick the team that you think is gonna win. You’re allowed to have a spiritual feeling about who you like and who you want to win. So I think it’ll be a lot of fun, though.”

College GameDay has already announced that its first show of the 2024 season will be the Week 0 game in Ireland between Florida State and Georgia Tech on Aug. 24. There will be plenty of excitement for Saban’s first GameDay from the Alabama campus.
One would expect the show to originate from Tuscaloosa when Alabama hosts Georgia on Sept. 28. It’s the fourth game of the year for the Tide, following home contests against Western Kentucky and USF, a trip to Wisconsin and a Sept. 21 bye.
