Nick Saban dismissive about his 11-0 record against former assistants

When it comes to playing former assistants, Alabama coach Nick Saban’s success is unmatched.
The five-time national champion is 11-0 against his former assistants, with none of those games being particularly close.
That’s bad news for former Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart, whose Georgia Bulldogs will face the Crimson Tide in the National Championship Game. However, Saban doesn’t think much about his record, saying he would have probably lost to an ex-assistant by now if those teams had the players Alabama has:
Nick Saban asked about being 11-0 against former assistants: "The game isn't about the coaches, it's about the players. In some of those games, if the other team had the players we had, they'd probably beat us."

Yes, Alabama does get the best of the best from the high-school ranks on a regular basis, but Saban does deserve some credit for coaching them up and turning them into college stars.
Smart has a tough job ahead of him, but he’s no slouch, either, so Monday’s title matchup should be a great one.
