Nick Saban doesn’t let his teams watch scary movies before games. Here’s why
Before game day, it’s normal for the team to get together and watch a pregame movie. This is something that Alabama coach Nick Saban has done over the years with his teams.
During an interview with John Talty, the author of “The Leadership Secrets of Nick Saban: How Alabama’s Coach Became The Greatest Ever” on The Andy Staples Show, they recalled a story from one pregame movie when Saban was the head coach at LSU.
At the 19 minute mark, they discuss how after the Bluegrass Miracle, Saban took the Tigers to see The Ring, which was the true definition of a horror film. At the time, the Lord of the Rings movies were really popular and both Staples and Talty speculated that Saban thought it was a similar movie. Needless to say, it didn’t go well and the Tigers got blown out.
After that incident, Saban took more ownership in picking the movie so that didn’t happen again.
