Nick Saban explains what Steve Sarkisian has brought to the Alabama staff
During Nick Saban’s Thursday radio show, he touched upon the current status in regards to Steve Sarkisian — and what he does for the program down in Tuscaloosa:
Saban on Steve Sarkisian: "He helped organize some of the meetings and the way we put things together that has helped the other coaches."

Saban hired Sarkisian earlier this month — giving him the title “Special assistant to the offense.” The obvious ties to current offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin certainly played a role in hiring Sarkisian in the first place.
The addition of Sarkisian is fascinating on a number of fronts. For one, he’s got vast experience when it comes to coaching offense. Sarkisian is also a part of the vaunted Pete Carroll tree of coaching.
With Kiffin likely to depart after the year for a head coaching position, don’t be surprised if Sarkisian gets a long look for the potentially open offensive coordinator gig.
Coming to Alabama not only gives the former USC head man an opportunity to get back into the coaching profession under arguably the most iconic college coach of all time, but it also enables Sarkisian to rebuild his image.
