Nick Saban has boasted one of the most exciting football programs in the country over the last decade or so, and now Deion Sanders is building a different kind of excitement at Colorado.

The Buffaloes have garnered the attention of college football fans across the country and Saban has taken notice.

Saban had high praise for what Sanders has been doing so far at Colorado.

“I haven’t been able to see them a lot, I saw a little bit of the game last week against Colorado State,” Saban said during the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday. “But I have a tremendous amount of respect for Deion Sanders, first he’s a great person, and he’s done a great job in marketing the program to create a lot of national interest, but I see their team playing well on the field. They play with discipline, they do a good job of executing, have been able to score points, playing decent on defense. So all those things to me are indicators that he’s a really good coach and I’ve always thought that and he’s always been successful, whether it was Jackson State, high school or now at Colorado. His teams have always been well-coached.”

Sanders has certainly done a good job of marketing his team and drawing national interest. On Saturday, Colorado’s game against Colorado State became ESPN’s 5th-most watched college football game ever, drawing 9.3 million viewers.

While Colorado has proven itself so far, the Buffaloes will get some big tests over the next 2 weeks, taking on Oregon this week and USC the following week.
