Nick Saban on challenge of facing a team with a familiar coach: ‘You act like we don’t know them’

Nick Saban talked about the challenge of playing a team with a familiar coach on Monday.
“We seem to play several teams now that kind of know us,” Saban said. “But you act like we don’t know them. Just because someone knows you when you play them doesn’t mean they’re going to beat you and just because you know them when you play them doesn’t mean you’re going to beat them either.”

Alabama faces Texas on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET, and the Longhorns’ head coach is very familiar with Alabama’s program.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was an analyst for Alabama in 2016 and its offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2020. Sarkisian is one of several former Alabama staffers currently coaching elsewhere.
Alabama and Texas both steamrolled their Week 1 opponents. The Tide defeated Utah State 55-0 on Saturday and Texas defeated Louisiana-Monroe 52-10.
The matchup between Alabama and Texas is the 10th ever meeting between the two teams and the first meeting since 2010.
