Nick Saban is adjusting to his new role as an analyst.

The legendary coach announced his retirement from coaching after the 2023 season, and Washington coach Kalen DeBoer was picked to replace Saban in Tuscaloosa.

On College GameDay Saturday, Saban spoke about his replacement and expressed his confidence in the coach.

“Kalen (DeBoer) has done a great job taking over this program… He embraced the tradition; he embraced the culture. But he put his own mark on how he wanted to coach the team… I am really, really excited about what Kalen is going to do for Alabama,” Saban said.

DeBoer was chosen to replace the legend at Alabama after going 25-3 at Washington. The coach also went 2-1 in bowl games with the Huskies and made it all the way to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in 2023. The Huskies would end up falling to Michigan in the game.

Saban, of course, is one of the greatest coaches of all time, so DeBoer has impossible expectations to meet. Saban accumulated a remarkable 206-29 record at Alabama, with a 16-7 bowl record, and 6 national championships.

DeBoer’s Crimson Tide will kick off their 2024 season on Saturday against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
