Nick Saban wasn’t on the sidelines for Alabama’s recent win over Georgia last week. The former Alabama head coach, who oversaw several wins over the Bulldogs across his years in Tuscaloosa, instead watched from a box high above Nick Saban Field.

Kirby Smart has lost just 3 times since the end of the 2020 season, all of which have come at the hands of Alabama. And with the SEC shedding divisions this year, a loss to a top conference competitor is going to be tough to overcome in the fight for a spot in the SEC Championship game.

On College GameDay Saturday morning Saban shared his postgame text to his former coordinator. He said the loss is “not the worst thing that ever happened” before reminding him about the importance of Georgia’s response to this setback.

Of course, Saban is right. Obviously, Georgia is not done for the year because they lost to a team that many believe is the most talented in the country in late September. The Bulldogs still have matchups against Texas and Tennessee ahead of them, plenty of opportunity to prove they’re still the top program in America.

Georgia responded after their loss in the SEC Title game in 2021. Let’s see if they can do it again.
