Nick Saban spoke Thursday night during his weekly radio show, addressing multiple topics pertaining to his Crimson Tide football team.
Among the most fascinating pressing matters is the quarterback position. Both Blake Barnett and Jalen Hurts played in the win over Southern Cal — with Hurts stealing the spotlight and the press clippings.
Not only is the true freshman signal-caller out of Texas brimming with confidence, but Saban also lauded his young quarterback.
Saban on Jalen Hurts: "We're very confident in Jalen Hurts throwing the ball, as well. He's very accurate, he's got a strong arm."

One could interpret this as Hurts winning the job outright over both Barnett and the experienced Cooper Bateman. However when asked about what Saban will do going forward, he was very forthright about what to expect:
Saban on Blake Barnett and Jalen Hurts: "I think it's important that both these guys continue to play."

Though Hurts was excellent last weekend, he’s still a very inexperienced quarterback. There will undoubtedly be some rough patches as it pertains to his development. As such, it may behoove Saban to get Barnett some confidence should Hurts falter a bit going forward.
