After a Week 2 loss to Texas, Alabama head coach Nick Saban is looking for a big response from his team.

The way he is going about is getting his team to play to a certain standard. Obviously the standard at Alabama is winning week in and week out, but setting that standard every week can be a challenge.

Saban focuses on setting that standard internally. He is making sure the outside noise doesn’t make it into the Alabama locker room and that his players are focused on bouncing back from the loss in a big way.

“My approach is try to play to a standard, try to get our players to play to a standard and when we don’t play to a standard, I don’t need anybody else to criticize, I’ve got pride and performance just like anybody else in this organization,” Saban said during the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday. “We want to try to get it right. We want to do everything we can to get people to play to a standard, that’s what we’re focused on. My standard comes from within me, not from some external motivation that comes from some place else. I haven’t even heard or read of any of those things because I don’t really pay a lot of attention to it. I do pay a lot of attention here of what we’re doing internally, how we can get it fixed so that our players have a better chance to be successful.”

Saban and the Tide have a chance to get back on the right track this week as they take on South Florida at home. The game will be a good chance for a tuneup before getting into SEC play, which starts the following week when Alabama takes on Ole Miss.
