Nick Sheridan will reportedly be Alabama’s quarterbacks coach for the 2025 campaign. There were some questions surrounding Sheridan’s role for this season after Kalen DeBoer made the notable move of bringing on Ryan Grubb as the new offensive coordinator.

Sheridan initially joined DeBoer’s Alabama staff as tight ends coach last year. When Grubb decided to take the offensive coordinator position with the Seattle Seahawks instead of following DeBoer to Tuscaloosa, Sheridan was promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Grubb was fired after 1 season in Seattle. DeBoer decided to reunite with his former assistant, tabbing him to be Alabama’s OC in 2025.

Grubb was formally announced on Thursday. While many offensive coordinators also serve as quarterback coaches, Grubb’s only title is OC. According to Alex Scarborough of 247Sports, Sheridan will be the QB coach.

Sheridan and Grubb worked together under DeBoer at Washington during the 2022 and ’23 seasons. Sherdian served as Washington’s tight ends coach while Grubb was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Bryan Ellis coached tight ends for Alabama in 2024 under Sheridan as OC/QB coach.

A previous report that Sheridan would remain on staff with Grubb joining also mentioned DeBoer retaining co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard, who followed from Washington.
