No. 11 Arkansas rolled past San Jose State on Saturday, 99-58.

That outcome was not a surprise.

The big development for the Razorbacks in the game was the play of heralded freshman Nick Smith Jr.

The 6-5, 185-pounder missed the first 7 games of the season recovering from a knee injury.

He returned to the court Monday night against Troy and was scoreless in 5 minutes.

But on Saturday against the Spartans, Smith showed why many believe his addition makes Arkansas a serious contender to make a deep run in March.

Smith played 24 minutes Saturday and scored 16 points and handed out 5 assists.

Arkansas is now 7-1 on the season and will return to action Tuesday night against UNC Greensboro.
