The Arkansas Razorbacks added a potentially big-time piece to its offense on Wednesday — as it announced the signing of Arizona Western College tight end Jeremy Patton:

A 4-star prospect, Patton is regarded as the No. 1 JUCO tight end in the country. He’s also ranked as the No. 11 junior college prospect in the country.
Starting tight end Jeremy Sprinkle will be graduating after this season. He accrued 33 catches for 380 yards and four touchdowns on the year. Head coach Bret Bielema loves to use his tight ends — as evidenced by his work with former Arkansas pass-catcher Hunter Henry.

Play-action is a bit part of Arkansas’ offense. Tight ends are not only expected to block during the run-heavy sets, but they’re also utilized downfield on crossing routes. At 6-foot-6, 245 pounds, Patton provides QB Austin Allen with a huge target to throw to.
